Company Overview
Wood River Animal Hospital is a unique opportunity for someone wishing to practice high quality medicine in a small town environment. We are currently a 2 1/2 doctor practice (1 Internist, one generalist, and a relief Veterinarian). We are staffed by an Oncologist (ACVIM) who sees cases 2 days per month, and a Radiologist (ACVR) who comes 1-2 days a week to read radiographs and perform ultrasounds and echocardiograms. We have a mobile Surgeon (ACVS) who is available for all necessary surgeries. We have Heska In-House Laboratory equipment, HD Radiology and CT, In-house diagnostic ultrasound (Q-Sonix), Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy (both Pentax), and Medidenta Dental suite. MRI is available at several nearby referral centers as are other specialists in private practice (Ophthalmology, Neurology and Dermatology). We encourage staff education and the maintenance of a clean, state of the art working environment.
We like the small state, intimate feel of our hospital where we can practice quality, truly caring medicine. We are located on the Rhode Island coast where all the benefits of a coastal community exists; fantastic boating, beautiful beaches and an overall healthy environment. We are 2 hours from Boston and great skiing in the winter.
Company History
Wood River Animal Hospital, Inc was started in 1992 by a ACVIM Board-Certified Internist. It began as a general practice but has always accepted Internal Medicine referrals. It grew to a practice of over 11,000 clients and has an ever-expanding Internal Medicine case load, but continues to maintain its general practice feel and approach.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
When we opened in 1992 we were the first practice in the State of Rhode Island to offer Internal Medicine specialty referrals. In fact, we were the first practice in the State staffed by a specialist of any kind!
